The National AIDS Programme (NAP)

The National AIDS Program (NAP) is a working arm of the government. The NAP provides support in the implementation of projects for HIV awareness and prevention. The NAP also contributes to training of people who deal daily with people with HIV.

Foundation HE + HIV

Is an organization that works to raise awareness within our society on how to deal with HIV-infected gay men, MSM+

Chances For Life

Who we are?
Foundation Chances For Life (CFL) is the not-for-profit social service provider of the umbrella organization New Beginnings Consultancy and Counseling Services. CFL works with men women and children with a special focus on vulnerabilized and marginalized communities such as sex workers, members of the LGBT community, youth and females at risk through:
The organization’s primary areas of work are health education, human development and empowerment, human rights advocacy, and eradication of stigma and discrimination targeting the above mentioned communities. Chances For Life executes activities in Paramaribo, districts and the gold-mining areas.

Mission
Chances For Life is committed to better the lives of men women and children with a special focus on vulnerable and marginalized communities such as sex workers, members of the LGBT community youth and females at risk through:

  • Providing assistance in identifying development opportunities and providing the tools to utilize these opportunities
  • Educating and Training
  • Counseling
  • Provision  health services
  • Coaching to take responsibility for one’s own health.
  • Development of  basic life skills
  • Mitigation of Stigma and discrimination towards marginalized and vulnerable communities based on the sex positive approach for HIV prevention.
  • Advocacy for acknowledgement and enjoyment of human rights for the marginalized and vulnerable communities mentioned above and for policy reform to create an enabling environment for enjoyment of human rights

Overview of services

  • Outreach

Outreach is CFL’s primary service as well as the primary method of service delivery. Provision of standard and custom health educational services, risk assessment, risk reduction planning and behavior change programs in CFL zones such as: goldmines, grey zone (massage salons and home based clubs), streets, nightclubs. Outreach services are inclusive of prison support and social services.

To provide a safe and non-judgmental social space for CFL key populations

  • Clinical services and referral

The Foundation Chances For Life provides a core package of HIV/STI through its clinic. Services that are not provided within the organization are referred to. Accompaniment to services to guarantee key friendly service provision is also part of the CFL service package.

LBGT Platform Suriname

The Suriname LGBT Platform is an umbrella organization consisting of member organizations, all of whom work with, and on behalf of one or more segments of the Surinamese Lesbian, Gay (Gay), Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex community. The organization focuses on issues that concern the larger parts of the LGBTI community.

Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM)

CCM is an organization applies for projects and guidance. These projects are generally funded by Global Fund, an international organization that makes funds available to developing countries for the fight against HIV / AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Surinamese foundations and organizations (Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs)) may, through the CCM,  tender for projects, including Global Fund. The CCM accompanies these NGOs in preparing and submitting their project plans.

Foundation Double Positive

Stichting Double Positive was established on February 2, 2009, at the initiative of Mrs. Ethel Pengel.
The main activity of the foundation is to provide (psychosocial) support, care and guidance to women and girls living with HIV/AIDS, and their environment. Such guidance is provided by friends, peercounselors and social workers.
